Tips To Stay Healthy This Flu Season

Did you know that Seniors are particularly vulnerable during this time? Here are some essential tips from The National Council on Aging (NCOA) article entitled "Flu Prevention 101: 7 Tips for Older Adults" to help you stay healthy:

  1. Balanced Diet: Consume a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins to support your immune system.
  2. Regular Exercise: Engage in light physical activities, such as walking or stretching, to boost immunity.
  3. Adequate Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to help your body recover and strengthen its defenses.
  4. Cover Coughs and Sneezes: Use a tissue or your elbow to cover coughs and sneezes, and dispose of tissues immediately.
  5. Vaccinations: Ensure you receive your annual flu shot. Vaccinations are a primary defense against the flu and can reduce the severity of symptoms if you do contract the virus.
  6. Hand Washing: Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  7. Avoid Touching Your Face: Refrain from touching your eyes, nose, and mouth to prevent the spread of germs.
  8. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids like water, herbal teas, and clear broths to keep your mucous membranes moist and support your immune system.
  9. Avoid Crowded Spaces: Limit exposure to large gatherings, especially in enclosed areas, to reduce the risk of infection.
  10. Clean and Disinfect: Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, such as doorknobs, light switches, and countertops, to prevent the spread of viruses.

Your health and peace of mind are our top priorities. Just give us a call at 317-884-3133, and we’ll be happy to accommodate your needs.

Stay safe, take care, and don’t hesitate to reach out if we can help in any way!
